The new "God of War"looks great, but it won't be out for a while. Don't worry, though! After watching the game's reveal trailer, we noticed that it's taking cues from some of our favorite games. If "God of War" is on your must-buy list when it comes out .

"The Last of Us"

The relationship at the heart of "The Last of Us" was a huge influence on the new "God of War."the last Of us" At the heart of what makes the new "God of War" so compelling is the relationship between Kratos and his son.

As they explore their Nordic environment, his son will learn new skills, they'll make conversation, and they'll both interact with the world around them (and each other). The first game to really nail that sort of father-child dynamic was Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us." In this action-adventure game, you play as Joel, a widower trying to survive in the wake of the collapse of human civilization at the hands of a ruthless virus. In his adventures, Joel is tasked with caring for a young girl named Ellie, who he ends up forming a bond with over the course of the game.Much like in "God of War," Ellie interacts with Joel as you explore forests and abandoned cities. Through their conversations, you learn more about each character and watch their relationship evolve over time.It doesn't hurt that we also named itone of the most beautiful games to ever come to PlayStation consoles.
Platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4

"Tomb Raider"
Though the new "God of War" certainly won't be as linear as the series' previous entries, it won't be a full-blown open-world game like "Grand Theft Auto" or the new "Legend of Zelda."Instead, expect the new "God of War" to have sections of open-world gameplay mixed with stricter narrative, much like the recent reboot of the "Tomb Raider" series.

In "Tomb Raider" and its sequel, "Rise of the Tomb Raider," you'll play as a younger version of the iconic action heroine Lara Croft, seeing her grow over time into the more seasoned professional that we all know and love. Both games in the series thus far are excellent for their seamless mix of action, platforming, and puzzle solving, so you'll want to give the series a try before diving in to"God of War.

"Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One (Currently, "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is only available on Xbox One, but will be coming to PlayStation 4 later this year.) Both "Tomb Raider" and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" are available on PC as well.
